| Make a new composition with your desired settings. These are mine. |

| create a new solid as a background for good measure. |

| Create a new text on top of your background. You may do this by clicking on the "T" at the top or pressing ctrl (command) + T |

| With your text layer selected (very important) create a path or shape. |
 |
| in the text layer, twirl down the options, then go to text-> path options-> and in path select your mask 1 (the properties below "path" are to animate your text, in order to animate them click on the stopwatch) |
