Impressionism/post-impressionism - I skipped many time periods and picked this one as the first one because it was the first art form that rejected museum art in its entirety, and it was a huge step for the arts/ post-impressionism was basically the same thing as impressionism except the themes weren’t realistic, and I think that played a very important role in the future of arts afterwards. If I had to pick an artwork I’d pick starry night by Van Gogh.
Abstract Expressionism.- between pop art and abstract expressionism, I think abstraction is what really shaped art today. Abstraction is a way of self-expressing without any use of element. It comes from within the artist, the way they threw the paint at the canvas showed how they were feeling, and it was different every time. I consider it the most creative and unique type of painting of all, it’s not easy as most people think. Anyone could throw painting at a canvas, but can you make it look good? I doubt it. Not only for painting, but sculptures too. In my opinion, abstraction inspired Deconstructivism.
